Mohegan Sun Casino

The Mohegan Sun Casino is a favorite among locals for the fun activities it provides as well as Las Vegas type atmosphere. The casino was originally opened October 12th, 1996 on 240 acres of reservation land belonging to the local Native American tribe the Mohegans. That same tribe operates the Casino today providing New England's finest dining, retail shopping, live entertainment, and sporting events. The Mohegan Sun actually contains two unique casinos with more than 300,000 square feet of gambling excitement, two world-class luxury spas, 130,000 square feet of shopping for guests to enjoy, over 45 eateries and bars, a 10,000-seat arena, a 350 seat wolf den venue, a comedy club, 375,000 square feet of conference space, two indoor pools, a 3-story crystal mountain, and a 55 foot tall indoor waterfall.

The Casino themselves contain more than 300 table games, almost 5,000 slot machines and 33 table poker rooms. They include all the classics such as Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Craps and Pai Gow, Texas Hold 'Em, three card poker, and Race Book. For those new to gambling the staff is prepared to help and show any visitors how to play to win. The two casinos are the Casino of the Sky and the Casino of the Earth. The Casino of the Sky actually has the world's largest indoor Planetarium and the Wombi Rock, a multi level entertainment lounge that also serves as gorgeous decoration for the casino. The Casino of the Earth is decorating with winter, spring, summer and fall themes year round as well as the Wolf Den that provide 350 seats for a variety of free live shows.

For those seeking a more relaxing time the Mohegan sun offers the Mandara spa. This spa chain was originally founded in Bali, Indonesia in 1995 and provides world-class services in 22 cities and 15 cruise ships. They offer 13 treatment rooms with massage and facial rooms as well as two couples suites for a more romantic relaxation. The spa is open Sundays from 7:30 am to 8 pm, Mondays to Thursdays from 8:30 am to 7 pm, and Fridays to Saturdays 7:30 am to 8pm. The casino offers the Mohegan Sun Golf Club for another relaxing activities. The golf course has 18 holes on pristine fairway turf. The golf course does have a dress code to ensure proper golf attire.  For those planning to attend Denim of all types is banned along with short shorts, cut-offs, tube tops, tank tops, and swim wear.
